Labello Lip Butter - Vanilla & Macadamia

Hello there and welcome to my first ever product review, yay! I’m so excited to officially start my blog and I hope you will come back again and again to read more reviews heading your way. So let’s not waste any time and get down to business!

Lately I’ve seen so many bloggers rave about this product, that I just had to try it myself (the tins are just so damn cute!). I was staring at the lip balm display for quite some time, trying to decide which one I wanted to try out first.

The Labello Lip Butters comes in 3 flavours:
Original
Raspberry Rose
Vanilla & Macadamia

Since I absolutely LOVE anything vanilla, the Vanilla & Macadamia one was the winner. I must confess, I was a bit disappointed when I opened my tin. To me it smelled more like coconut and nothing like vanilla… sigh

Thankfully the texture made up where the vanilla lacked. It has a creamy, smooth texture and not greasy or sticky at all. It also gives a nice glossy, clear finish when applied to your lips. The lip butter also doesn’t taste like anything and the scent isn’t as strong on your lips.

Price: R29.95 each for 19ml (I bought mine at Checkers, but you will probably find them at Clicks or Dis-chem, as well). If you'd like to purchase it online, head over to Dis-Chem Online

The other day I was watching Dr. Oz (I must confess, I’m a little bit obsessed with his show), when I learned that applying too much lip balm can actually cause more harm than good. You are supposed to only apply lip balm a max of 3 times per day, anything more can cause an addiction… say whaaaaaat?

The science – The cells on our lips are designed to shed and make new ones. When you apply a lip balm, it blocks the shedding process and slows down the production of new cells, so your lips can’t perform its natural rejuvenation ability. Now imagine what will happen you are applying lip balm constantly…

The good news is that these babies comes jam packed with shea butter (dr. oz approved) and almond oil for long lasting moisture. Since summer is fast approaching, it would have been an added bonus if these lip butters contained some SPF (are you taking note Labello?). We all know our SA sun can be quite harsh at times. The tin will also last you quite some time as you only use a small amount for each application.

Final rating: ♥♥♥ (3/5)
The lip butter lacked vanilla and SPF. Not a bad product, but I have tried lip balms that are more effective at moisturising my lips.

Repurchase: Maybe, but probably the original flavour.
